Born April 7, 2015, Bernadette KBF (aka "Bernie") is a fabulous chestnut filly by the Elite Hanoverian stallion Bon Balou and out of our top-producing thoroughbred mare Cody's Kisses. Bernie is the culmination of the very best in European sport horses and American race horses, and her athleticism, coupled with her amateur-friendly temperament, will enable her to take a rider in any direction. She has legs for days, lofty and balanced gaits, and enough bling to make her stand out against any competition. Bernie has been retained for our broodmare herd, and we are already dreaming of the stallions we might pair her with =)

In early 2015 while Bernie was in utero, Bernie's sire Bon Balou tragically died at a very young age. He was a fantastic stallion who had produced champion and premium foals for multiple registries, so his death was a real blow to warmblood breeders. We are retaining Bernie for our breeding program, and we feel so lucky to have a Bon Balou filly who so closely favors her sire.

Bernadette's bloodlines combine to offer an athlete who should be equally talented as a jumper, hunter, or eventer. Her sire Bon Balou (now deceased) was the 2012 70 Day Test Jumper Champion and earned 3rd place overall. Perhaps most importantly, even though he only bred for a few years, Bon Balou produced fantastic foals who were regularly crowned Champion/Elite/Premium at their various inspections, across a variety of mares. He truly stamped his get.

Bon Balou's sire, Balou du Rouet, scored a 9.5 and perfect 10 for jumping at his stallion testing. In 2005, he scored the highest mark of 9.2 at the National Championships, making him one of Germany's top four licensed stallions. He has sired 41 licensed sons.

Balou du Rouet's sire is the legendary Baloubet du Rouet. Piloted by Rodrigo Pessoa, Baloubet won the World Cup three times and was the winner of the Individual Olympic Gold.

Bon Balou's damsire is none other than the fabulous Argentinus, a Grand Prix show jumper who for 7 years led the FN statistics for his age group for the prize money earned by his progeny, with offspring competing internationally in both jumping and dressage.

Through her dam, Bernie's thoroughbred ancestry is also chock full of exceptional athletes. His grandsire Corporate Report won more than $1 million on the track, including placing second in the 1991 Preakness Stakes and winning the Travers Stakes. His great-grandsire (Cody's damsire) Cryptoclearance won more than $3 million on the track, having won 12 of his 44 starts, including placing fourth in the 1987 Kentucky Derby, third in the Preakness Stakes, and second in the Belmont Stakes.
