Diamond Rio KBF (aka "Rio") is a striking dark
bay colt by the Oldenburg stallion Diamond
Stud (now deceased) and out of a lovely gray Westfalen mare
named Moulin Rouge d'Avalon. Born
April 23, 2017, Rio was vibrant at birth; he was up and walking
around the stall while his mom was still recovering! Rio is truly
an amateur-friendly foal that the whole family can enjoy. He is
so gentle when interacting with humans, and he is Mr. Cool about
"scary" new experiences. Rio has a lovely hip and shoulder
with substantial bone and good depth of body. We anticipate he will
mature to 16.2h and be a big-bodied guy. Rio was bred with a dressage
career in mind, but his dam is now back under saddle and proving
to be a very capable jumper, so Rio should have the natural athletic
ability to go in any direction his owner would like.
Rio is registered/branded Westfalen, and he is microchipped
and has a lifetime registration with the USEF. Rio was gelded just
before his first birthday, and he is now all healed up and ready
to go to his forever home.
SOLD to Rachael in Rhode Island!
-------
Rio's bloodlines combine some of the biggest names
in warmblood dressage and jumping. Rio is sired by the spectacular
Oldenburg stallion Diamond
Stud (Diamond Hit x Lavarino). Diamond Stud unfortunately passed
away in 2017, but his athleticism lives on in his progency. Diamond
Stud had a lovely uphill build and an extremely powerful hind end
with supple and elastic movement. Perhaps most importantly, Diamond
Stud scored a perfect 10 for Character and a 9.5 for Temperament,
and these traits have clearly been passed onto his darling son Rio!

Rio's dam Mia is a gorgeous 16h gray mare with huge
movement, amazing feet, and an easy-going temperament. Mia was sent
to us at 4 years old to be finish growing up while she carried her
first foal. The Westfalen judges were impressed by both her conformation
and her movement. After weaning Rio, Mia started her under saddle
career and has been purchased by a hunter rider who just adores
her.
Rio's dam, Moulin
Rouge d'Avalon ("Mia")
Mia's bloodlines are chock full of dual purpose
stallions who excel at both jumping and dressage. Her sire Mannhattan
won the jumping portion of his 100 Day Stallion performance test
with a score of 128.53. He went on to perform to Level 8 in the
jumpers, and he has multiple offspring competing at the upper levels,
including three at FEI level in dressage.
Mia's sire, Mannhattan
Through Mia's dam Faberge, we add the 5 Star Oldenburg
stallion Frohwind. This impressive 16.3h stallion was Champion of
his 100 Day Stallion performance test with a score of 137.54 - scores
of 9 for willingness to work, ability to work and rideability. He
competed successfully in FEI dressage, prelim eventing, and jumpers.
Before his death, he was a leading producer of premium foals, mares,
and performance horses.
